Description

Lasco 448015 (448-015) Schedule 40 PVC Cap – 1-1/2″ Female Pipe Thread (FPT/FNPT) – White

The Lasco 448015 is a Schedule 40 PVC female threaded cap designed to seal off the end of a 1-1/2″ male NPT fitting. It’s commonly used on pool/spa plumbing, irrigation manifolds, and general water systems where you need a removable, threaded closure for a port, clean-out, or future expansion point.

Key Features

  • Part Number: 448015 (also shown as 448-015)
  • Type: Threaded PVC cap
  • Size: 1-1/2″
  • Connection: Female NPT (FPT/FNPT)
  • Material: Schedule 40 PVC
  • Color: White
  • Use: Seals a 1-1/2″ male threaded fitting or port

Common Uses

  • Capping a threaded port on pool/spa plumbing manifolds
  • Creating a removable clean-out or winterizing point
  • Sealing a future takeoff on irrigation headers and equipment pads

Compatibility Notes

  • Thread type: Designed for standard tapered NPT male threads (1-1/2″ MPT).
  • Not a slip fitting: This cap does not glue onto pipe; it threads onto a male adapter or male threaded fitting.
  • Do not over-tighten: PVC female threads can split if forced.

  • 1-1/2″ PVC Threaded Plugs (MPT) (alternative way to close a female threaded port)
  • PTFE Thread Tape (helps seal NPT threads)
  • Thread Sealant for Plastic Threads (use a non-hardening sealant compatible with PVC)
  • 1-1/2″ PVC Unions (adds serviceability near capped ports or equipment)
  • 1-1/2″ PVC Ball Valves (control flow if the capped line will be activated later)

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Wrap male threads with PTFE tape (typically 2–4 wraps) and tighten snug by hand; use a wrench only for a small additional turn if needed.
  • For plastic threads, avoid hard-setting pipe dope unless it’s specifically rated for PVC/CPVC and plastic threaded fittings.
  • Never tighten under pressure—depressurize the line before adjusting threaded fittings.
  • If you see seepage, remove the cap, clean threads, re-apply tape/sealant, and reinstall without over-tightening.
  • Support nearby plumbing to reduce stress on threaded joints (pipe strain is a common cause of cracks and leaks).
